And there are certainly a lot of things. By 2020, CISCO estimates that 50 billion data devices will be connected. So as machines talk to machines more intelligently, Xchanging seeks out opportunities to improve customers’ lives, particularly in the Automotive and Real Estate sectors.

Our work in the Connected Car market enables customers to gather and/or disseminate data from and to remote vehicles. We develop the software, manage the network, analyze the data and present the results via easy to use interfaces on various client devices. With increasing government regulation of the automotive industry around Usage Based Insurance (UBI), intelligent emergency calling (eCall) and stolen vehicle tracking, innovation from Xchanging will continue to evolve.

Similarly, we support the adoption and implementation of intelligent technology for the Connected Building, including the software applications, network management and analytic requirements to improve building energy efficiency. By doing so, we deliver better insight and control across a customer’s property asset base, providing real time feedback and analytics for better decision making.

The Internet of Things is a complex business, but with the ability to deliver throughout the entire technology ecosystem, not just individual products, Xchanging makes everyone’s life easier.

Life is Changing

When technology works, it is no longer technology; it becomes an integral part of life. As our lives become increasingly complex, we rely more and more on technology to simplify, support and remove the tasks that can be more efficiently and effectively accomplished by machines; faster and cheaper than before. In many cases, they are tasks that we never knew could be performed.

We have become used to one machine connecting to another; our PCs connected to our laptops, which are connected to our smartphones, which are connected to our tablets, which are connected to our TVs, which are connected to multiple networks, over fixed lines and over the air. In the real estate market, we are helping CBRE, the world’s leading commercial property and real estate services adviser - apply the internet of things to achieve a Connected Building network. Buildings around the world contain hundreds, thousands, millions of devices that all require management and control. Lights, fans, air-conditioning, cameras, sensors, chillers, appliances - Xchanging enables remote 'action' to be taken, for example, switching devices on and off. More importantly, our technology enables the analysis of data to optimize performance of our customers' property assets across its estate. We don’t just switch things on and off, we assess how to optimize. We don’t just turn the lights off at 5.00pm, we measure usage in real-time to determine current requirements across the estate and optimize the entire property asset base accordingly. If usage or circumstances change, the intelligent conversation between machines adjusts accordingly.
