Mercator Selected by Xchanging Ins-sure Services as Part of Data Transaction Service for the Insurance Market

WILTON, CT, and LONDON, UK - May, 2002 - Mercator® Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: MCTR), today announced it has been selected by Xchanging Ins-sure Services to provide the message transformation engine within Xchanging Ins-sure Services "Business Centre". Xchanging Ins-sure Services provides business process outsourcing (BPO) services to the London insurance market.

Under the terms of the contract, Mercator's integration technology will form the central translation hub of Business Centre, enabling the transformation of multiple message standards, including ACORD EDI, XML for Reinsurance and Large Commercial (RLC), and a number of proprietary formats. Xchanging Ins-sure Services anticipates that with Mercator's help, over the next 3-5 years Xchanging Ins-sure Services will be able to handle significant volumes.
