London, UK - May 2002 - Xchanging Ins-sure Services today announces the launch of its 'Business Centre' that will enable companies operating in the London Insurance Market to distribute and receive data in their preferred formats irrespective of the their own or their clients'/service providers' new or legacy IT systems.
John Benjamin, Managing Director, Xchanging Ins-sure Services; "The introduction of the Business Centre, using Mercator's technology, has made it possible for Xchanging to once again break new ground and deliver market-leading services that will support the London Market, international organisations using the market and help London to remain at the centre of the global insurance industry."
Mark Register, president of international at Mercator comments, "Xchanging Ins-sure Services is a global leader in the provision of services to the insurance industry so this is great news for Mercator and builds on our growing presence within the insurance market."
The market has grown up with and currently operates numerous legacy and bespoke IT systems introduced as technology has advanced. Few of these are able to communicate directly with each other, meaning there is an industry-wide practice of re-keying data. Alternatively, the distributor must establish which format and presentation method is required for each trading partner and to build appropriate IT support.
Working with market leading integration solutions provider Mercator, who 'message transformation engine' for the service, Xchanging customers can now use the Business Centre as a distribution gateway. Data sent to the Business Centre is automatically translated into the appropriate file format/protocol and sent to the required destination with no need for re-keying by the recipient(s).
Xchanging Ins-sure Services is offering the Business Centre service to customers on a transaction-based pricing model. Also, because it is operating as an Application Service Provider (ASP), customers will not need to invest in either their IT infrastructure or processing systems. As an 'any file to any file' service, no local software or support is needed so companies can defer or avoid major IT investment and simplify existing systems.
Under the terms of the contract, Mercator's integration technology will form the central translation hub of 'Business Centre', enabling the transformation of multiple message standards including ACORD EDI and XML for Reinsurance and Large Commercial (RLC), London Market formats and a number of proprietary formats.
