A major high street chain in the UK with over 2500 stores was finding it difficult to manage orders and choose suppliers who could provide the best quality at the cheapest price.

In response, they looked to work with an outsourcing company with proven expertise in managing procurement spend. They chose Xchanging and together we agreed a 10-year procure-to-pay (P2P) contract. Xchanging professionals collaborated with the customer to cut costs by reducing turnaround times and creating clearly defined roles and responsibilities. In 2009, we successfully managed £710 million of procurement spend for this customer, delivering a range of efficiencies including:

• a dramatic reduction in turnaround time for invoicing exceptions
• a big improvement in the number of product price and contract date queries answered within an agreed timeframe
• increasing the percentage of ordering exceptions closed within an agreed timeframe.
